Weight loss can help reduce dementia risk

Obesity is defined as excessive body fat that increases your risk of other health problems.

A person with a body mass index (BMI) above 30 is considered obese, while a person with a BMI between 25 and 30 is considered overweight.

Obesity is serious because it is associated with poorer mental health outcomes and reduced quality of life.

Obesity is also associated with the leading causes of death in the United States and worldwide, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.

The evidence to date suggests that obesity is associated with reduced cognitive function, plasticity and brain volumes, and altered brain structure.

Accumulating evidence demonstrates that cognitive function is adversely affected by obesity.

For example, a meta-analysis has shown a strong association between obesity and neurological disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

This video shows how weight loss can decrease dementia risk and improve mental performance and infertility.
