How to drink water to lose weight

Sufficient water intake helps in flushing out toxins from the body and gives a boost to the metabolism.

Studies of older adults have shown that drinking water before each meal may increase weight loss by 2 kg (4.4 lbs) over a 12-week period.

In one study, middle-aged overweight and obese participants who drank water before each meal lost 44% more weight, compared to a group that did not drink more water.

However, people who drink too much water might gain weight suddenly due to swelling and excess water in the bloodstream.

If you’re drinking more than 10 cups of water each day and notice swelling or discoloration in your hands, lips, and feet, consider cutting back on your water intake and see if your symptoms subside.
