Recent studies have shown that several common dietary supplements may help protect against heart disease and stroke.

Omega-3 fish oil

Omega-3s are a family of essential fatty acids that play important roles in the body.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is the most important omega-3 fatty acid in the body. It occurs mainly in animal products like fatty fish and fish oil.

One recent study from Harvard University found that people who take omega-3 fish oil supplements have lower risks of heart disease.

The team found a link between daily omega-3 supplementation and reduced risk of heart attack and death from coronary heart disease. In addition, higher doses of omega-3 fish oil supplements appeared to provide even greater risk reduction.

Another Harvard study showed that fish oil might help people with heart failure avoid repeat trips to the hospital.

Researchers tested nearly 26,000 adults aged 50 and older who were initially free of heart problems.

They found over five years, the fish oil group was 28% less likely to suffer a heart attack. In addition, fish oil users were 14% less likely to have repeat hospitalizations.

The team says that omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to help lower triglycerides, lessen inflammation and blood clotting, and help stabilize heart rhythm.

We recommend MegaRed Omega-3 Oil Softgels for supplementation. It contains 100% pure antarctic krill oil, 3 times purer than regular Krill oil. Krill Oil is carried to the body’s cells in phospholipid form so it’s easily recognized and absorbed.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a popular dietary supplement used to relieve osteoarthritis and joint pain.

In one recent study from Tulane University, researchers found that taking glucosamine supplements regularly may help lower risks of heart disease and stroke.

The team analyzed data from 466,039 people without heart disease. These people completed a questionnaire on supplement use, including glucosamine.

The researchers found that glucosamine use was linked to a 15% lower overall risk of heart disease, and a 9% to 22% lower risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and death rate compared with no use.

In addition, the benefit of glucosamine use was stronger in current smokers than in never and former smokers.

The team explains that regular use of glucosamine may help reduce C-reactive protein (CRP), a chemical linked to inflammation. In addition, glucosamine may mimic a low carbohydrate diet, which could benefit heart health.

We recommend Glucosamine with Chondroitin Turmeric MSM Boswellia for supplementation. It supports occasional joint discomfort relief and helps inflammatory response.

It also has antioxidant properties, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.

Folic acid

Folate, also known as vitamin B₉ and folacin, is one of the B vitamins. Manufactured folic acid, which is converted into folate by the body, is used as a dietary supplement.

Folic acid helps make healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body.

In a recent study from West Virginia University, researchers found that taking folic acid could protect against stroke.

The researchers reviewed 277 published studies, in which nearly 1 million adults participated. They found folic acid could help reduce risk of stroke.

We recommend Nature’s Bounty Folic Acid for supplementation. Research suggests that supplementation with folate may support cardiovascular and bone health by balancing homocysteine metabolism.

Magnesium

Magnesium plays many crucial roles in the body, such as supporting muscle and nerve function and energy production.

In a recent study from Brown University, researchers found a link between dietary magnesium intake and reduced coronary heart disease in older women.

They examined magnesium intake at baseline for more than 153,000 older women.

Researchers found that higher magnesium intake was linked to a strong risk reduction in fatal coronary heart disease and a reduction in the risk of sudden cardiac death.

We recommend Nature’s Bounty Magnesium for supplementation. It helps optimal bone Support and muscle health. Magnesium aids in protein formation and nerve impulses.

Please remember, the best ways to prevent heart disease and stroke are eating healthy food, taking exercise regularly, and sleep well at night. You may need to talk to your doctors about the supplements you are taking.
