Another sign to watch for is easy bruising or bleeding. The liver produces proteins that help blood clot. When the liver is damaged, these proteins may not be made in enough amounts, making it easier for a person to bleed or bruise.

Recognizing these warning signs early is very important. If liver disease is found early, treatment can slow down or even stop further damage. This is especially important for people who have higher risk factors. These include heavy alcohol use, long-term use of certain medications, or infections such as hepatitis.

Doctors have several ways to check how well the liver is working. Blood tests can measure enzymes and proteins in the blood. Imaging tests, such as ultrasound, CT scans, and MRI scans, can show the shape and condition of the liver. In some cases, a biopsy may be needed, where a small sample of liver tissue is taken and examined under a microscope.

Taking care of your liver does not have to be complicated. Simple habits can make a big difference. Eating a balanced diet, limiting alcohol intake, using medications carefully, and having regular health check-ups can all help protect your liver.
