John Clifton “Jack” Bogle was an American investor, business magnate, and philanthropist.
He was the founder and chief executive of The Vanguard Group and is credited with creating the first index fund.
In Bogle’s investment strategies, investing is better than speculating, long-term patience is better than short-term action, and lowering broker fees as much as possible is the key to success.
His 1999 book Common Sense on Mutual Funds: New Imperatives for the Intelligent Investor is considered a classic within the investment community.
In this video, Bogle talked about why common sense is so important in everyone’s investing behavior, and he told the story of Vanguard, which was built based on common sense.
