The results were eye-opening. The group that ate prunes every day saw a big drop in their blood pressure compared to the water-only group. Even eating just three prunes a day made a noticeable difference. People who ate six prunes a day had even bigger improvements in their systolic blood pressure.
The study also found that people who didn’t eat prunes had a rise in their HDL (good) cholesterol. This type of cholesterol helps remove bad cholesterol from your blood, lowering the risk of heart disease.
However, the group that did eat prunes saw a drop in both total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol. High LDL levels are linked to a greater risk of heart problems.
This research shows that adding prunes to your daily diet could be a natural and easy way to help manage blood pressure and protect your heart. Left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to dangerous conditions like heart attacks and strokes. But making small changes, like eating prunes regularly, may support your heart health in the long run.
