Prunes are dried plums that are naturally sweet and chewy. They do not contain any added sugar and are full of important nutrients. Prunes are rich in vitamin B6, manganese, and copper. These nutrients help your body release energy from the food you eat.

Prunes also have lots of vitamins and antioxidants. Antioxidants help your immune system and keep your cells healthy. This means prunes can help your body stay strong and fight off illness.

Fruits and vegetables are already known to help lower blood pressure. This is important because high blood pressure can lead to serious problems like heart disease and stroke. Blood pressure has two parts: systolic, which is the pressure when your heart beats, and diastolic, which is the pressure when your heart rests between beats.

A group of researchers from Shifa College of Medicine wanted to find out if prunes could help with heart health. They studied 259 people with different blood pressure levels. These people were divided into groups. Some groups ate prunes or drank prune juice every day, while others only drank a glass of water on an empty stomach.

The results were clear. People who ate prunes had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t. The group that ate three prunes each day showed the biggest improvement. Eating six prunes had a stronger effect on systolic blood pressure but not as much on diastolic pressure.

The study also looked at cholesterol levels. People who did not eat prunes had higher levels of HDL cholesterol, which is called the “good” cholesterol. This kind of cholesterol helps remove bad cholesterol from your body.

Meanwhile, the groups that ate prunes had lower levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, which is the “bad” kind. High levels of LDL can raise the risk of heart problems.

This research shows that adding prunes to your daily diet might help control high blood pressure and protect your heart. High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes if not treated.

But eating a few prunes every day could be a simple, natural way to help keep your blood pressure in a healthy range and take care of your heart.
