Researchers at The University of New Mexico have discovered that cannabis flower is effective in alleviating fatigue, as reported in their study published in Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoids.

Led by Jacob Miguel Vigil, the study highlights key insights into how cannabis affects fatigue, a common symptom associated with numerous chronic illnesses.

Over 91% of users reported reduced fatigue symptoms after consuming cannabis flowers. On average, users experienced a 3.5-point improvement on a 0–10 fatigue scale.

Cannabis cigarettes or “joints” provided greater symptom relief compared to pipes or vaporizers.

The study found general improvements in fatigue across various cannabis products, regardless of THC or CBD levels.

Patients with conditions such as chronic pain, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis reported increased energy levels after consuming cannabis.

This supports the notion that cannabis could be a viable alternative to traditional medications for managing fatigue.

The findings suggest cannabis could provide a healthier alternative to energy drinks and fatigue-related supplements in the market.

The study analyzed 3,922 cannabis self-administration sessions from 1,224 individuals, using real-time data collection via a mobile app.

This research underscores the potential of cannabis as an alternative treatment for fatigue, paving the way for more natural and patient-preferred options in managing energy levels.

It also suggests the need for further exploration of cannabis-based solutions in medical and commercial health markets.
