In fact, those with the highest scores lived up to 9 years longer than those with the lowest scores! This means that by taking care of your heart and blood vessels, you could add almost a decade to your life.

The study also showed that some of the steps for good cardiovascular health had a bigger impact on life expectancy than others.

For example, not smoking was one of the most important steps, as people who didn’t smoke lived 7.4 years longer on average than those who smoked the most.

Getting enough sleep, being physically active, and controlling blood glucose levels were also important for living longer.
