Bridgewater Associates, Ray Dalio’s investment company, is not only the world’s largest hedge fund but also a pioneer of using computers to make business and investment decisions.
It develops software to automate the day-to-day management of the firm, including hiring, firing and other strategic decision-making.
Bridgewater’s software engineers are specialized in analytics and artificial intelligence, and they build a lab called “The Systematized Intelligence Lab”.
The goal of the lab is to ensure the company can run according to Dalio’s vision even when he’s not there.
In this video, Dalio talks about why he decides to use computers to make almost all decisions in his investment and management. He believes becoming data-driven is a great advantage for Bridgewater.
